My New Book… 7 Secrets to Speaking So People Will Listen + A GIVEAWAY

My new book titled 7 Secrets to Speaking So People Will Listen is here!  I debuted my book at the Toastmasters International Convention and it went flying off the shelves!

Here is a sneak peek from the book:

One day I woke up and decided I wanted to be a professional speaker when I grew up. I was 50 years old. My reasons were all about shameless self-aggrandizement. As a youth I’d been a stage wanna-be. At last I saw a way to step into the spotlight, hold the microphone and have people admire me.

My youngest children were juniors in high school so I gave myself 18 months to figure out something to talk about that people would listen to and, more importantly, pay money to hear.

I imagined that we would install our twin daughters in college and then I would catch a plane to begin my new starring role on the platform of people’s hearts.

This book is about the lessons I’ve slowly and sometimes painfully learned over nearly twenty years of professional speaking. I’m writing it with the hope that I can shorten your learning curve towards mastering the art of crafting your message.

A great “speech” is actually just a conversation with your audience. Sometimes the audience is one person, like your spouse, your child, your boss, your customer or your friend. Sometimes your audience is 100, or even 1,000 people. But regardless of the audience size, the principles in this book are the same.

By understanding what you want to say, how your audience needs to hear it, and what actions you want them to take as a result of your remarks, you will be able to inspire and encourage people (even teenagers) to improve their thoughts and behaviors.

Communication literacy is your ticket to professional success and personal fulfillment.

This book is my wisdom conversation with you. So grab a cup of coffee and let’s get started.

I would love to read this. I love to talk, but to effectively communicate?… Now that is an art form I need to learn. Maybe I could speak better to my adult daughter and pass some of these skills on to her also! I have enjoyed watching clips of your presentations and reading about your life adventures since they are presented in such an engaging way.

I is far easier to identify the sloppy listening habits of others than in yourself. I’ve discovered that just talking about listening makes me more aware of my listening behavior.

Look forward to reading your tips.

Anne, thank you for writing this book. Surely I am one of many who gain a great deal from your wisdom. Thanks to your presentation at the DKG TSO conventionin Austin a few yars ago, I am now in my third book of gratitudes, five things (sometimes more) each day that I’m thankful for. It’s changed my life. Can’t wait to read your newest book.
